Parish Council Meeting

September 17, 2007

Members Present:  Fr. Forge, Jack Harvey, Ray Hopson, Leslie Voorhies, Myrna Wharton, Liz Wigzell

Members Absent:  Luisa Lopez, Rudy Lopez

 

 

I.                     Opening Prayer- Fr. Forge

II.                   Presentation- CRHP from St Patrick in Denison.  Council discussed and unanimously recommended having this ministry at St John.  Fr. Forge will check with the Finance Council on funding the retreats.

III.                 Minutes- Leslie Voorhies

IV.                Old Business

a.       Security System.  Fr. Forge met with the Catholic Foundation.  The representative was impressed with the facilities.   Grant recipients will be notified in October.

b.       Stained Glass Window.  Fr. Forge talked to the artist.   He should begin work on the window upon the completion of his current project.

c.        White House status.  Family has vacated.  There has been some minor vandalism.  There are four bid requests for demolition.  Fr. Forge will meet with the Finance Council next week to decide.

d.       Parish Clean-up Day.  Sign up sheets will be available in the foyer this weekend.

e.        Suggestion Box Items and responses are available on the website.

V.                  New Business

a.       Balance Sheet.  Council reviewed and discussed Balance Sheet.   It looks good.  There was discussion and major concern about the necessity of using the festival funds on a commercial stove and hood for the parish hall.  Fr. Forge requested this item be tabled to a later meeting. 

b.       Solicitation for new Parish Council Members.   Fr. Forge will request applications for new Council Members to replace Liz, Leslie, Luisa, and Rudy.                         

VI.                Suggestion Box Items.  Council discussed items and made suggestions.  Results will be available on the website.

VII.              Misc.

a.       Time and Talent drive.

VIII.            Next meeting October 15, 2007 at 7:00 PM.
