Parish Council Meeting

December 17, 2007

7:05 pm at Parish Center

 

Members Present:  Fr. Forge, Jack Harvey, Myrna Wharton, Ray Hopson, Melody Zimmer, Pam Driver, Alma Salinas, and Mary Pat Samuels

 

1.  Fr. Forge opened with a scripture reading.

 

2.  Minutes presented by Mary Pat Samuels.

 

3.  Security System update:  Some of the cameras are on back order so it will probably be installed early next year.  

 

4.  Stained glass window update:  No new information to report.

 

5.  White house on Morris St. update:  Another bid for demolition was mentioned.

 

6.  Festival:  May 18 date set.  Committee chairs now in place.

 

7.  Ministry Fair Day:  Nothing new to report.

 

8.  Parish Hall Cleaning Status:  The Parish hall coordinator made a list of what she feels is required to regularly clean the hall.  It will be shown to Alex to see if he has the time to do all that is required.

 

9.  Volunteer Appreciation Dinner:  Successful with about 90 volunteers in attendance.

 

10.  Balance sheet reviewed.

 

11.  Eagle Scout Project:  Sand Volleyball court will be built at new Francis St house.

 

12.  Suggestion Box items:  No new items.  For now, Fr. Forge will respond to suggestions and get them posted on the internet.

 

13.  Fr. Forge discussed his holiday schedule.  Fr. Jim Sharp will celebrate all Masses the weekend of Jan 5/6.

 

14.  Bilingual Mass for Holy Days:  A council member suggested making Holy day and Our Lady of Guadalupe masses bilingual, so that all parishioners could take part in either Mass.  Fr. Forge said he would consider the suggestion.

 

15.  CHIRPS:  (Christ Renews his Parish)  Fr. Forge said that we may try this program in the future.  Funding will be there, but the schedule will need to be coordinated with other parish activities.

 

16.  Next Meeting will be January 21, 2008 at 7:00pm.
